Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a preventive and curative manual therapy that, at its most basic level, aims to optimize a person's overall health and functioning so they can enjoy a better quality of life. Using a highly developed sense of touch and a mental map of human anatomy, the osteopath conducts a comprehensive assessment to identify the possible causes of neuro-musculoskeletal, visceral, and cranial dysfunctions.

Osteopathy seeks to maintain and improve the mobility, motility, and rhythms of all the body's organic tissues, in order to promote homeostasis and the body's self-regulating abilities. It is simultaneously an art, requiring mastery of a precise touch adapted to each patient and their state of health; a philosophy that integrates a holistic approach; and a science based on an understanding of human biology, anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and their interrelationships (Excerpt from the AONB website).
